To set the starting Portfolio Balance, you can create a Journal Entry. First, determine how much money you are holding on behalf of the owner. Say, for example, this amount was determined to be $500. Go to the Management Tab and click the “Owner Ledger” subtab. Click the “New Journal Entry” button and enter $500 into the “Debit” column, and for the Debit account choose the bank account that holds the funds. In the “Credit” column, select the “Opening Balance” income account and also enter $500.The debit will increase the bank account balance by $500 and the credit will decrease the opening balance amount by $500. If the portfolio balance is spread amongst more than one bank account, you can break up the “Debit” amount among as many bank accounts as needed, as long as the sum of the Debit column equals the sum of the Credit column.
