The term Properties in Propertyware refers collectively to Portfolios, Buildings and Units, all of which may be accessed from the Properties Tab.
The Properties home page offers a customizable list view of Portfolios, Buildings and Units. Different views can be selected from the drop-down list on the top left, and custom views can be added as needed.
To add a custom view:
From the Properties tab home page, click New View.
A window will appear, prompting you to Select new view type. Choose whether you’d like to view by Portfolio, Building or Unit.
Then, a New View setup window will appear. Choose how you would like to view your Properties from the available fields. Sorting determines in which order your properties will display. Columns determines which data will be shown. Filter determines which properties will appear in or be excluded from your list.
Click Save. Your new custom list view will now be displayed on the Properties home page. It also will be listed in the drop-down menu on the top right. To switch views, simply select from this menu, and to edit the currently displayed view, select the Edit View option next to the menu.
What is a Portfolio?
In Propertyware, a Portfolio is a folder which organizes your properties by property owner. If you are a property management company, you will be prompted to create a Portfolio for each property owner whose properties you manage. On the other hand, if you own and manage all of your own properties, Propertyware will create a default Portfolio in the name of your company to which buildings and units may be added.
What are Buildings and Units?
In Propertyware, a Building is a structure that may or may not have Units, and a Unit is a rentable space within a Building. Buildings are identified throughout Propertyware by a blue building icon, whereas Units are identified by a blue building with a red door.
Tip - A Building without Units (i.e. a single family home) is considered a rentable building in Propertyware, and can have only one lease attached to it. A Building with Units (i.e. an apartment building) is considered a multi-unit building in Propertyware. In these buildings, leases are attached directly to the individual Units, rather than to the Building.
