Move-Out Process

Leases > Lease > Tenant Ledger > Move Out

Description

When tenants need to move out, their leases must be terminated so the buildings or units can be leased to new tenants. This article outlines the required steps for the Move Out process in Propertyware, and provides links to details for each step of that process.

Summary of Steps

In Propertyware, the Move Out process begins on the Move Out screen.

To access the Move Out screen:

  1. Locate the lease to be terminated, using one of the following methods:
  •
    • Type the lease name or a keyword in the Global Search. Then, click the lease you want from the displayed list of results.
    • At the top of the screen, choose the Active Leases View from the drop-down. Then, click the name of the lease from the displayed list.
  1. Once you have located the lease, click through its name in the Lease list to view the individual Lease Summary.
  2. From the Lease Summary, click Ledger in the Page View sidebar
  3. At the top of the Tenant Ledger screen, click the Move Out button.

Then, from the Move Out screen, perform the following steps:

  1. Recording the Move Out details
  2. Reviewing and paying unpaid charges
  3. Calculating Interest on Deposits, if applicable
  4. If there is a refund, processing and refunding the Security Deposit
  5. Transferring funds for Move Out, to ensure costs are covered in the right accounts
  6. Recording the tenant’s forwarding address
  7. Terminating the lease
  8. Confirming Move Out via the Tenant Ledger

Click the above links for detailed information about that section of the Move Out screen.
